Crime Prevention
Crime prevention starts with staying alert and taking simple precautions to protect yourself and your belongings while on campus. Following these practices can help create a safer environment for everyone.
Personal Safety
- Stay aware of your surroundings
- Walk in well-lit areas, especially at night
- Walk with a friend or in a group whenever it is possible
- Report suspicious activity to Campus Police
Protect Your Property
- Keep backpacks, laptops, and other valuables with you at all times.
- Secure bicycles using a sturdy lock when storing them in bike racks
- Do not share your student ID with anyone.
Protect Your Information
- Create strong passwords for online accounts
- Do not share personal information with people you do not know
- Be cautious of phishing emails
- Log out of public computers after use.
Report Suspicious Activity
- Report suspicious people, vehicles, or behavior to Campus Police.
- Report damaged locks, broken lights, or other safety hazards.
- If you witness a crime or emergency, call 911 or contact Campus Police immediately.
